Top 200 Hobby Prospect Rankings
An updated prospect rankings list specifically designed for finding value in Bowman cards
As with many computer-generated rankings, be careful of small samples! When prospects are promoted, regardless of their performance they will get a bump if they are in an advanced level for their age. On the other hand, players who have yet to debut are given the benefit of the doubt with their rankings, so when they do debut and it’s not the best there’s a slight slide at first. You’ll notice Konnor Griffin went from 38 to 120. Obviously I don’t think there are 119 prospects better than Griffin, but when you only have 13 PA and they haven’t been great, the statistical component of these rankings is not kind to you. Basically, all of these things should normalize over the next couple of weeks as the sample sizes grow, so for this week’s rankings update I’m only going to highlight prospects whose move up the rankings was directly a result of them swinging a hot bat. Here is the first weekly update of the Top 200 Hobby Prospect Rankings.
